Could you put a hole in the glass using the same method?
did you use score the glass first?
It also works for plastic bottles, but you only need the acetone soaked string then, no need to light it on fire.
Next time I have a party I will try that. Then everyone will see how dumb it is and leave.
I used a wet saw…makes a cleaner edge.

@F1aShGL0 Kitchen string aka butcher’s string can be found in the baking aisle, ppl use it when cooking roasts or poultry to hold it together for desirable results, basically, it’s kinda fat string, oh and it’s cotton, don’t wanna put synthetics in the oven

@betenoireindustries its a function of expansion and compression. you heat the top half of a bottle then cool it rapidly, the glass will suddenly be under pressure and crack. the top will simply break off. so the bigger difference in temperature you achieve between hot and cold, the more likely it’ll work.
